What's Happening here?
Mr. Kevin LaCherra, a Transportation Alternatives activist, presented a proposal to Brooklyn Community Board 1 Transportation Committee to close Bedford Ave between Lorimer St and Manhattan Ave.

The NYC DOT is currently reviewing the application to close the street.
We expect Brooklyn Community Board 1 to vote on this proposal in Fall 2022.
We are asking local politicians to stand against this application because the proposal is not authored or supported by the businesses or residents that live on Nassau Ave and Bedford Ave.

Why Doesn't This Work?
- Surrounding Businesses, including essential services, lose loading zones, metered parking and access to their storefronts.
- Traffic congestion will increase on Nassau Ave and surrounding streets.
- The proposal would take away a necessary left hand turn onto Manhattan Ave from Bedford Ave.
- Create delays in bus service.
- Will amplify the existing noise from music and crowds that affects the habitability of surrounding homes.
